JOHN DEERE OWNERS:

Did you know you do not have to buy OEM John Deere parts for your mower?

If you provide us with your engine information we can provide you with the engine's OEM parts:

For Briggs we need model, type, and code usually located on a valve cover on the engine or silver decal.
For Kohler we need model and spec number
For Kawasaki we need model and serial number

Belts and Blades, just provide us with the OEM John Deere number and we can cross to a replacement part.

We also offer complete service of all John Deere mowers and have John Deere factory trained mechanics on duty.

ETHANOL ISSUES

ETHANOL BLENDED GASOLINE WILL ABSORB WATER !!!

Below is a excerpt from the EPA website:

"Fuel system and gas rules have changed - Precautions are necessary when you chose to use E10 ethanol-blends of gasoline.

Ethanol is alcohol and will attract/absorb water into gas resulting in phase separation of fuel.
Due to the instability of gas containing alcohol, shelf life is less than 3 months."

Many customers complain of their mowers not running correctly, sputtering, or not being able to start the mower.
More often than not upon inspection we find water in both the carb bowl and in the fuel tank.  The new blend of Ethanol Gasoline WILL absorb water. Water can be introduced ANYWHERE along the transportation line, either at the tanks, tanker truck, while transfering the gasoline from the tanker, or while the gasoline is stored in your tool shed.

Many customers have stated 'I run my car on the same gasoline and don't have any problems'.  This is probably true, just remember on a vehicle you have 4, 6, or 8 cylinders and if water enters into 1/2 of those cylinders you still have the other cylinders to 'carry' the engine.  On your mower you have only 1 or 2 cylinders, and water introduced into any of the cylinders will 'kill' the engine.

In conclusion, we test all our gasoline for water content before it is used to refuel a serviced or new delivery unit.  We cannot be responsible for water re-introduced into your fuel system, nor will this be covered under our service warranty or manufacturer warranty.

Important E10 Ethanol Fuel Precaution:
Ethanol alcohol fuel blends expire in 90 days;
When exposed to excessive water, they will expire even much faster.
Studies report that after only 100 days, alcohol fuels absorb enough moisture to phase separate.
If you are not monitoring or testing your gas for alcohol and water content, we recommend replacement of gas in your fuel tank at least every 2-4 weeks to avoid alcohol and water related engine problems.

What is phase separation, and how do I deal with it?
If significant amounts of water are present in a fuel tank with gasoline that contains ethanol, the water will be drawn into the fuel until the saturation point is reached for the three-component mixture of water + gasoline + ethanol. Beyond this level of water, phase separation could cause most of the ethanol and water to separate from the bulk fuel and drop to the bottom of the tank, leaving gasoline with a significantly reduced level of ethanol in the upper phase (see Figure 1 below). If the lower phase of water and ethanol is large enough to reach the fuel inlet, it could be pumped directly to the engine and cause significant problems. Even if the ethanol water phase at the bottom of the tank is not drawn into the fuel inlet, the reduced ethanol level of the fuel reduces the octane rating by as much as 3 octane numbers, which could result in engine problems. The level at which phase separation can occur is determined by a number of variables, including the amount of ethanol, the composition of the fuel, the temperature of the environment and the presence of contaminants. It is very important (A) that the system is inspected for significant quantities of water in the tank before using gasoline with ethanol and (B) to limit exposure of the fuel tank to excess water. If phase separation has occurred, it is necessary to completely remove all free water from the system and replace the fuel before continuing operation. Otherwise, engine problems could occur. Figure 1: Sample of fuel from fuel tank in which phase separation has occurred. The upper phase is gasoline with a reduced level of ethanol. The lower level is a mixture of ethanol and water.
